Life Is Precious

Since on friday 5th of October 2012, the news of the brutal killing of four Uniport students who were alleged to have stolen phones and laptops has been everywhere.

I just finished watching the video and God, its so disgusting and barbaric.

What kind of country are we living in? A lawless country where people just take laws into their hands and carry out murder because someone committed a crime.

This is called jungle justice but I call it stupid and mad criminal behavior. In the process of carrying out this so called jungle justice, the mob themselves are committing a far worse crime than the criminal they are attacking.

Those boys didn't deserve to die. Every Life is Precious.
No matter the crime, never take laws into your own hands. We have law enforcement agencies such as the Police.

These people claim the Police never dish out justice to criminals when handed over, so they have decided to do it themselves.

I heard there was a situation where a woman stole and was caught. While they were trying to set her ablaze she was screaming and begging saying "I gree, I thief, abeg nor burn me, carry me go station". All her plea fell on deaf ears and she was still burnt alive.

That's exactly the case of this Uniport students. They were mercilessly beaten and set ablaze and people were there watching.

I have never witnessed that kind of situation but I know this barbaric act isn't right. I pray those who carried out this Jungle Justice are brought to book .

Everyone has to be very careful and act right. You have to be in the right place at the right time.

Mr. Robber and Mrs. Thief, shey you are seeing what's happening. You have to stop your bad habit before you become a victim.

INFO OF THE DAY: Corper Involved In A Robbery.
In a related development, a member of the National Youths Service Corps serving in Kwara State and two other men (names withheld by the police) have been arrested for their alleged involvement in armed robbery.
The three suspects were apprehended by the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Police Force.

Our country really needs to upgrade, we need to be enlightened. This barbaric act is on various sites on the internet-why won't they call us uncivilized. *sighing*.

Stay Sharp,
Warri Girl.

Dear Lord, when will such criminality stop? Why won't Nigerians ever learn? Harmless students' lives just snuffed out like dat. Who knows if they really stole? The may hv bin innocent for all I care. Thank God d Rivers State Govt already ordered d Police to arrest those involved in the dastardly act. I wish they can b buried alive. Such evil will not leave their households nd communities. Gosh! I feel sick in my stomach. Someone who can kill another in such gruesome, inhuman and degrading manner could have bin the thief sef. Its unfair hw we take laws into our hands. The giver of life won't take it out no matter our sins becos He knows how precious He holds our lives. Its such a pity. Even God gave Adam and Eve fair hearing nd went tru d entire trial process even where He knew d sin they had committed. Every accused has a right to be presumed innocent until proven otherwise by a competent court. Little boys like dat "accused" of stealing fones nd laptops o, the same killers run after politicians who kill and steal with guns nd pens. May God cleanse the entity called Nigeria. I wish I cud freely say "God forgive d killers".mtchew. Every life no matter wat is precious. Nigerians! We have to learn oooo.hian

May be my contribution will be OP. But its just the way I see it for now...may be for now. But I still think the draconian rule fits well for nigerians at this stage of our development. The idiagbon's leadership style would attest to that. Even the new lagos state traffic law is not too different I think. Yes we can criticize the mob in the context that "they took laws into their hands" not to have tempered mercy on the said criminals or "nobody holypass" like 2face always say. But I challenge anyone of you to act and say thesame thing on a criminal who just shoot your 2yr old niece on the head and is at a run. Ahaha... I guess u are calm already. Again, what about the 70year old civil servant who just got knock down by the car because he was strucked by a shock of confusion that his 10years savings + gratuity has just been snatched from him by a rude boy at the front of the bank? I guess WAG's opinion of today's write should be looking one sided by now...? I am really not in a 100% support of these brutal killings by angry mob on criminal across the country anyway, but I think its pretty ok.... mmmh say a 70% for now until will trash out the original cause of these robberies and petty theft.
Would anybody least disagree with me that joy won't kiss our faces if for instance those oil subsidy scammers were caught and burnt alive at eagle square during the said subsidy protest? Yea, some would say it a different scenario. But would be quick to forget that the restiveness of the youth is proportional to the level of disorganization at the top.
Now, u can pamper my back or cut it. I wait.

@Ighox: my problem with this Jungle justice ish is that all it takes is for some agberos to scream *ole ole* on your ass and before you know it, innocent person dey on fire.

I do get your argument but sincerely speaking sha the average human being would have a rethink if you are to call his attention to a crime he/she is about to commit out of rage.

If someone powerful in that bush community had spoken, they wouldn't have killed those boys at all. For all we care to know even those they burnt them could be bloody thieves! :(

Well 'Jungle Justice' has been in Nigeria long enough, but I'm happy we are now opening our eyes to how evil it is, things like this shouldn't happen in a functioning society. A law should be passed out against it.. RIP to those boys and the 33 students that were shot in Mubi
