We Were Warned Yet We Ignored

The magnitude of the flood disaster that has affect some parts of the country is a pathetic and terrible one.

If it were back in the days of our fore-fathers(those old village settings in Nollywood movies),
They would say:
The gods are angry or
The Igwe refused to heed the advise of the Dibia.

I think the case of the flood in various states(Kogi, Delta, Anambra, Bayelsa, Imo, Benue, Taraba, Niger, Kastina, Adamawa, Sokoto, Kano, Yobe, Jigawa, Kwara, Enugu and Ebonyi) relates to the Igwe refusing to heed the advise of the Dibia.

Experts foresaw this disaster looming and they warned against it but their warnings were ignored.

Now see what has confronted us in the face. Because of ignorance lots of lives and properties are lost and are still getting lost.

I look at pictures or read in the dailies and I feel sad.
I feel for the ones who drowned in the flood, I feel for those who lost their loved ones, I feel for those who lost all they have in life and I feel for our government for not listening to the advise and preventing this from happening.

I can just imagine what those Nigerians must have experienced waking up to find yourself in an ocean with all kinds of creatures in it. (I heard that deadly snakes and crocodiles are in the flood).

I just pray that the government finds a prompt and good solution to the flooding and I pray we don't face shortage of food next year this one that most of our farm lands are washed away.

INFO OF THE DAY: DELTA MONARCH DROWNS IN FLOOD.
A traditional ruler in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State has reportedly drowned when the boat in which he was being evacuated from his flooded community capsized.
A villager said that for traditional reasons the name of the royal father could not be disclosed.

God help us.

Stay Sharp,
Warri Girl.

Delta state is experiencing same problem. But how this flood affected so many states baffles me. I have heard many versions of cameroon opening their dam and it flowed in2 the Niger which has caused this flooding. God help us in Nigeria.

Its really sad because we refuse to be proactive when it comes to issues that affect human lives... The Govt will rather look for solution instead of preventing things like this, the problem lies with us too some people would ignore calls for evacuation till they see the prob. May God give them the grace to overcome

Wat did our govt do wen Cameron informed dem dat dey wanted to open d Damn...did dey shake or look for a solution to dredge d river Niger nd Benue...no is d ans... U can't blame Cameron dey did wat was right for dier country...dis rivers links each other and our govt folded dier hands and waited for it to happen.

its a "natural disaster",dere really isnt much d govt or any govt can do2prevent issues like dese, its jst hw fast it can react 2 remedy d situation so as alleviate d cries of d populace. Yes,our govt was slow2 react,i saw a pic of oduaghan d other dae in a canoe grinin sheepishly as if beamin his 32 wud resolve d issue.

I ve missed so much, u see as a scientist and a geologist i'll tell u its either raise in tides, sea levels or vibration in d earth crust cos any of dese can cause dis kinda tin but as a lame man i'll wud just say its over flow from d sea or take what ever story d daily newspaper tell me, now lets just assume any of dese factors must ve caused it,d reason y its affecting so many part of d country is because of d distributies and river channels dere's always raise and fall of sea level but in dis case its i beleive dere's also need to check for vibration. Well if its true accordin to wat people say dat a neighbouring country opened a dam den i blame my great nation for allowing it to affect its citizens d reason is just simple Nigerian govt dont value its citizen. I dont wanna go cos am really pissed bout dis issue cos it has affected my own father's house. Xoxo
