Most of you must have heard about the Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards created to celebrate African film and television, both in front of and behind the camera. The Awards will feature several special categories in which viewers will decide the winners directly, alongside several professionally judged categories.
Encompassing 28 awards in 26 categories, the AMVCA includes 6 categories where viewers will vote for winners and 18 more technically focused categories where winners will be selected by an expert industry based judging panel.
Some of the most awaited categories also boasted high profile nominees.
In the category for Best Actress in a Drama, the nominess are Bubu Mazibuko, Genevieve Nnaji, Nolwazi Shange, Funke Akindele and Jackie Appiah.
While in the Best Actress in a Comedy category Funke Akindele, Lilian Esoro and Mercy Johnson are all in the running.
In the Best Actor in a Drama category, the nominees are Fabian Adeoye Lojede, O.C Ukeje, Kenneth Uphophi, Edward kagutuzi and Jafta Mamabolo.
Nominess for Best Actor in a Comedy are Hafiz Oyetoro, Kunle Bamtefa, Bovi Ugboma, Francis Odega and IKHIDE ISAAC- that’s my guy.
Yeah! Ha! One of my guys got nominated. E nor easy abeg to be nominated for the AMVCA which cuts across 47 African Countries, this is indeed good news.
My guy Ikhide Isaac is a jovial and collected person. A graduate of Theatre Arts, Delta State University, with a great passion for entertainment and media arts. He started his acting career in 2008 while in school and auditioned for a part in ‘WANNA BE’, a comedy drama series produced by Teru Ekhuerare. He was given the major role in the comedy drama, which was later aired on Africa Magic in 2009, NTA Ibadan in 2011, and other satellite stations across Nigeria. He also starred in an action drama series ‘The Undergraduate’ produced and directed by Kingsley Oboro of Best of Talents Studio and ‘The package’ a short movie.
Ikhide was nominated for the AMVCA because of his role in the series ‘Wanna Be’, where he played the role of a student who always wanted to be in the elite class. He portrayed the ‘I must belong’ character extremely well.
Birds of the same feather dey say flock together. From reading my blog, you know I’m a humorous and playful person, so also expect the same from my paddy, Ikhide. If at all you happen to have watched the ‘WANNA BE’ series, I ‘m sure you had some good laughs.
I have a positive response towards the AMVCA for two reasons. First of all, this is the first ever AMVCA which is a nice concept and secondly my guy is on the list.
